Crystals have long been used as protective talismans for travellers. With the upcoming holidays, I thought I’d look into some of the best crystals to take travelling (or to gift to someone who is travelling).
In this post, I outline general crystals for travelling, crystals to support jetlag and travel sickness, and some good all round crystals which help to alleviate stomach upsets and stress (which travel can induce at times).
You don’t need to take all of them – simply choose the stones which most resonate with you, and keep them in a little bag in your handbag or luggage on your trip!
General crystals to support travelling
Yellow Jasper protects during spiritual work and physical travel. It channels positive energy, making you feel physically better, and energises the endocrine system. It stimulates the solar plexus chakra, releases toxins and heals digestion and the stomach.
Nuumite is the sorcerer’s stone and is powerfully protective against ill-wishing and psychic manipulation. One of the oldest minerals on earth, it is an exceptional energy tool for those whose energies have evolved sufficiently to work with its intensity. A protective stone, strengthening the auric shield and effective against negative energies and sorcery, Nuummite helps travelling with stealth and sureness. It shields from site, and safeguards your car.
Crystals to support travel sickness
Dioptase alleviates pain and migraines. It also lessens fatigue and overcomes shock. It is a detoxifier, lessening nausea and regenerating the liver. It is particularly effective for overcoming addictions and stress.
Jasper is known as the “supreme nurturer.” It sustains and supports during times of stress, and brings tranquility and wholeness. Used in healing, it unifies all aspects of your life. Jasper reminds people to help each other. This crystal supports the circulatory, digestive, and sexual organs. It also re-energises the body.
Malachite is already an important protection stone. It absorbs negative energies and pollutants easily, picking them up from the atmosphere and from the body. It should be cleansed before and after use by placing it on a quartz cluster in the sun (do not use salt, which will damage the surface). Placed on the heart, it brings balance and harmony. Psychologically, Malachite is a stone of transformation. Life is lived more intensely under the influence of this adventurous stone, which encourages risk-taking and change. Malachite is also good for travel sickness and vertigo, and it enhances the immune system.
Crystals to alleviate jetlag
Black Tourmaline protects against cell phones, electromagnetic smog, radiation, psychic attack spells and ill-wishing, and negative energies of all kinds. Connecting with the base chakra it grounds energy and increases physical vitality, dispersing tension and stress. It also promotes a laid-back attitude and objective neutrality with clear, rational thought processes. It encourages a positive attitude, no matter what the circumstances, and stimulates altruism and practical creativity.
Cerussite is beneficial for travel, whether on business or for pleasure, reducing jet lag and helping you to adjust to a different culture. This is a useful stone for making short-term compromises and adjusting to situations to which inner resistance is strong. Cerussite is a pragmatic stone that promotes decision-making and stimulates growth. Teaching how to become flexible and how to take responsibility, it relieves tension and anxiety and shows how to adapt to necessary change. It instills the ability to be tactful in any situation and helps to promote extroversion rather than withdrawal.
Crystals to support stomach upsets
Aquamarine has the power to invoke tolerance of others. It gives support to anyone who is overwhelmed, and encourages taking responsibility for oneself. This stone strengthens the body’s cleansing organs and aids the eyes, jaw and teeth, and stomach.
Bloodstone – an excellent grounding and protecting stone, Bloodstone keeps out undesirable influences. It gives courage and teaches how to avoid dangerous situations by strategic withdrawal and flexibility. Bloodstone assists you in acting in the present moment. Mentally, Bloodstone calms the mind, dispels confusion, and enhances the decision-making process. It can revitalise the mind if you are mentally exhausted. This stone assists in adjusting to unaccustomed circumstances.
Crystals to reduce and manage stress
Amethyst relieves physical, emotional, and psychological pain or stress, and blocks geopathic stress. It eases headaches and releases tension. It is beneficial for the intestines, regulating flora, removing parasites, and encouraging reabsorption of water. Amethyst treats insomnia and brings restful sleep.
Onyx is strength-giving. It provides support in difficult or confusing circumstances and during times of enormous mental or physical stress. This stone promotes vigor, steadfastness, and stamina. It aids learning lessons, imparting self-confidence and helping you to be at ease in your surroundings.
Rainbow Obsidian is one of the gentler obsidians but with strong protective properties. It absorbs negative energy from the aura and draws off stress from the body.
